Basic Folk 21 – Jocie Adams of Arc Iris
Powered by RedCircle
Magic musical human wonder Jocie Adams (Arc Iris) is a very funny, grounded and kind person IRL; on stage she is a mystical badass alien superhero who expressively emerges from a giant vagina at the start of her live shows while wearing a gold bodysuit. Jocie started music pretty young on piano and viola, but she really connected with the clarinet. Eventually finding herself at Brown University, she was asked by her classmate to come over one night to play music. After a series of events, Jocie found herself in that classmate’s band, The Low Anthem. After a couple of albums and many tours, Jocie struck out on her own, released a solo album and then formed a completely different band, Arc Iris.
Arc Iris’ music is rooted in rock, pop, glam, folk and something else that you can’t put your finger on (maybe it’s stardust?). They are a force and a must-see live show. On Basic Folk, Jocie details some of what’s going on inside her interesting brain, her connection to classical music and physics. Also, Jocie definitely has the best laugh in folk music. Enjoy!
