Basic Folk 09 – Alex Stanton of townsppl
Powered by RedCircle
Hi! Welcome to Alex Stanton week! Alex is a Pittsburgh born and bred singer/songwriter who heads up the band townsppl. Growing up Stanton spent a lot of time hanging out where all the cool kids wanted to be, on the set of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. His mother worked in the art department for the show and he tells me about receiving his first *Martin* guitar from that magical set. Over the years Stanton recalls cultivating his musicianship and songwriting skills in a rock band, and we unpack how and why he has since made the decision to transition to only folk music. Also Stanton discusses opening his own music school, Sunburst School of Music. We talk about the community of musicians that he has found and fostered since opening the doors. Don’t forget to subscribe for all the folk-talk to come. Happy Listening!
